In Spring 2019, I was awarded a much-needed sabbatical. Professors at SU get to have a paid semester off every seven years to do research, so of course I spent mine in Japan and tried somewhat unsucccessfully to work on math problems in Tokyo coffeeshops. My kid went to kindergarten there so I worked hard many mornings to make her character bentos for lunch. I was especially proud of ham Jigglypuff.
